Updating your Profile

 

Your Profile contains information about you. You can link outside services to your profile, upload a picture so people know what you look like, add additional contact methods, manage your personal files, and setup course notifications so Canvas can tell you when something is happening.

 

To start click on your name that's in the upper right corner of your screen when you login

 

 

On the left hand side of the Profile page, you will see different menus, on the right your contact methods, and in the middle you will find the information Canvas currently has about you. You can click on Edit Settings to make any changes. You can also click on your Avatar icon to add a new picture. You cannot change your default name, default e-mail address and your password. You can add additional e-mail addresses and your cell phone number so Canvas can send you SMS messages. 

                     

Towards the bottom are the different web services you can integrate with Canvas. For example, I'm a Twitter user. I can link my Twitter account to Canvas so people will be able to see my Twitter page. Canvas can also send me messages that things are happening in my course to Twitter instead of e-mail.

Please note that making your services public is optional. Cell phones and e-mails will never be shared.

When you're ready to move on, click Next which is on the bottom of your screen and well talk a little about Notifications.
